Legislation & foreign exchange regulation
The Centrale Bank van Aruba started its operations on January 1, 1986, when Aruba obtained its status as an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Prior to this period, Aruba formed part of the Netherlands Antilles. The CBA is a legal entity in itself (sui generis) with an autonomous position within Aruba's public sector.
Statistics
The Statistics Department is responsible for the compilation, production and analysis of statistical data. These statistics cover data on financial, real, external and government sectors. We use international standards, such as standards stipulated by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Basel as a basis for these statistics.
Supervision
We are the sole supervisory authority in Aruba with respect to the financial sector. The supervision of the CBA aims primarily at maintaining the soundness and integrity of the financial system. Hereby safeguarding the interests of depositors, policyholders and investors. We are responsible for the regulation and supervision of credit institutions, insurance companies, company pension funds, investment companies, money transaction companies, and trust service providers.
State of the economy
This is a quarterly publication on economic developments. It mainly covers developments in Aruba, but also reports on international developments. In 2012, it replaced the Quarterly Bulletin and Annual Report.
