During its meeting of March 16, 2022, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Centrale Bank van Aruba (CBA) decided to raise the reserve requirement rate from 16.0 percent to 18.0 percent as of April 1st, 2022. This decision was primarily based on the elevated level of excess liquidity at the commercial banks in addition to rising inflationary pressures, as well as the modest reduction in excess liquidity that resulted from the previous increase of the reserve requirement rate.
