The CBA pleased with publication of new national accounts data by the CBS

Press Release

The Central Bank of Aruba (CBA) is pleased that the CBS has resumed publication of the National Accounts, which latest year of publication was 2011. Herewith, Aruba regains access to an indispensable measure of the country’s economy, i.e., the gross domestic product (GDP) and its composition, calculated in the most accurate way possible. As of yet, the CBS published new GDP figures for the years 2013 to 2017. This means that the estimates that the CBA had published during and regarding these years, using the limited information available to it, will be replaced by the official GDP figures of the CBS. The CBA can then again focus on forecasting GDP for the following years, starting with 2018. The differences between the GDP series 2013‐2017 published by the CBS and the former CBA estimates published will be further analyzed, and where deemed necessary, discussed with CBS, also with a view to improve future GDP forecasts.
